Frankly speaking, I never had great expectations to the replies I would get for my "Progressive Drummer Looking" ad on Craigslist. Nevertheless, I decided to take the risk and see how the cards would fall. In my case, lady luck was watching over me and they fell right side up! I was contacted momentarily by Constantin, who later turned out to be the guitarist of the band. After the first few email exchanges along with hearing the music of HPF, I realised that I finally landed in the hands of the right people who I would want to work with to manufacture something yet unknown to mankind. I was so determined to be their drummer that I practically nailed myself to the drum stool and began learning their song. With the compelling time signatures, the depth and details and the rich texture of each song, I felt like I have died and gone to drummer heaven. Ah, finally...a sound out of the ordinary. How refreshing it was to hear something other then Common time!
My first rehearsal with the band was truly a new experience and I felt a sudden revitalizing spark of inspiration when playing. But aside from that, I instantly fell in love with the talents of the band members. Each one of them truly had something superior to offer to the general sound in term of their skills and musicianship. I'll try to put it this way; when hearing the band play live, it was really like a combination of many flavours swirled together to create a new deliciously exotic product.
But the best part of being with HPF, (besides the music with the purpose) is really the people. They are one of the hardest working people I have ever met and they are very dedicated to what they do. They all put a lot of energy into it and there is no question that each member of the band is phenomenally talented and takes on an industrious approach with the talent. Everyone is always thinking about the music, about ways of playing it and always hungry for new ideas. Personally I find it a blessing to be with musicians who have got so much hunger for music, that much love for it and who are willing to put that much energy into getting it across to people. I look forward to sharing many great adventures with the band. You should come down to one of our shows and feel the energy coming off the stage. I guarantee that you will be sweeped off your feet for its hard not to move them in unison with the music.
