Dmitry “Les” Lesov was born and raised in Sverdlovsk(currently Yekaterinburg), USSR(currently Russia). He moved to Canada in 1993 and obtained a Computer Programming Diploma at Seneca College. Les is a self-taught musician who picked up playng guitar at age 12. Upon arrival to Canada, he started writing his own music with a group of like minded people that became the band “Pavlov’s Dogs Orchestra” in 1998 where he was the lead guitarist. He met Constantin on one of the shows and with him, created the russian incarnation of Half Past Four in 1999. In 2003 he picked up bass and has loved it and made it his primary instrument ever since.
Les became fascinated by the Chapman Stick after going to a King Crimson double trio tour concert in 1994. He acquired one in 2009 and is still learning the instrument, but is now incorporating it into a lot of the new material. His musical inspirations include bass legends Jaco Pastorius, John Wetton and Michael Manring and his inspirations on Chapman Stick include Tony Levin and local stickman, Chris Chiasson. His favorite food is macaroni and meat "russian navy" style ( see "Battleship Potyomkin"). His favorite color is crimson and his favorite pastime is playing lullubays to his son on good old six nylon strings. His favorite experience with Half Past Four so far has been playing Prog Day.
